Paddy Summerfield is an Oxford-based photographer who over fifty years has built a portfolio of extraordinary images. Those lucky enough to have seen exhibitions of his pictures will know how strong Paddy’s work is. In 2014 Dewi Lewis published, MOTHER AND FATHER, a moving record of his parents’ final years.
WEEKEND AWAY is a new photo-essay just published by Cafe Royal Books. At £6 plus postage and packing this is a must have. It’s a wonderful selection of off-beat images taken at the English seaside, very much in the tradition of Cartier-Bresson. The photographs are full of humour and humanity.
In June another book-length collection will be out, THE OXFORD PICTURES 1968-1978, his second venture with Dewi Lewis Publishing.
