A few days ago the poet Helen Ivory accepted my poem ‘In Syracuse’ for publication in the magazine Ink, Sweat and Tears, which she edits. It will appear sometime in the autumn. This is the poem which I commissioned Laura Jurd to set to music (see earlier post.) The score – for soprano and string quartet – is finished and I have a copy. I’m now waiting for rehearsal dates from the Ligeti Quartet who will perform it, also hopefully this autumn.
Two other poems will also appear in the next few months – ‘Four More Ways of Looking at a Blackbird’ will shortly be published in Sentinel Literary Quarterly and ‘Strawberry’ will be published on Everyday Poets in late August.
